REAL ID Enforcement Deadline Approaching
Hopefully you have heard by now that a new version of our state-issued ID cards (usually your driving license) is now available. This is referred to as a Real ID. How can you tell? Look in the upper right corner, and see if there is a star. If so, you are good to go, but if not you need to take action now if you plan to do any air travel.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced that REAL ID compliance will be required starting May 7, 2025. This means that only state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards that meet the security standards of the REAL ID Act will be accepted for federal purposes, including boarding commercial aircraft.
Please be aware of this important change and make sure to obtain a REAL ID compliant license or alternate identification if you do not have one before May 7, 2025. If you fail to do so, you may find yourself grounded!
