They were also named both the #1 River Line and the #1 Ocean Line by Travel + Leisure readers in their annual World’s Best Awards, marking 18 years of recognition since 2004.

In addition to their Ocean and River cruises, 2022 saw the introduction of a new US-based ship cruising the Mississippi and the fabulous Expedition line, currently encompassing two innovative new expedition ships.

They are state of the art, with features designed to protect the environment and provide for health and safety of all aboard.
The overall experience sets a new standard in the cruise industry. The ships are designed for comfort but still provide unexpected equipment and experiences unmatched in the expedition cruise industry.

Viking Air Options
Airfare Packages
Airfare can be included in any Viking cruise package from most major gateways, often with special offers for reduced or even complimentary flights. The following classes are available, though options may vary based on the cruise itinerary:
- Standard Economy
- Premium Economy
- Business Class
Flexible Air Options
For those looking to extend their stay or travel to different cities before or after their cruise, Viking offers two flexible airfare options: Air and Air+. Each of these options adds an additional $100 per person to the cruise fare.
Air Option
The Air option allows passengers to adjust their flight dates to arrive earlier or stay longer in the port cities of the cruise without changing the destination cities.
Example: For a cruise departing from Amsterdam and arriving in Basel, the Air option allows you to arrive in Amsterdam on an earlier date and/or leave Basel at a later date than the cruise schedule.
Important Note
Combining Air and Air+
The Air option is required in order to use the Air+ option, resulting in a combined total of $200 per passenger for maximum flexibility.
Air+ Option
The Air+ option offers even greater flexibility, allowing passengers to change both the arrival and departure cities, as well as travel dates.
Example: If your cruise departs from Amsterdam and ends in Basel, the Air+ option allows you to fly into a different city, such as Paris, before the cruise. However, you will be responsible for your own transportation from Paris to Amsterdam. Similarly, if you wish to fly out of a city other than Basel after the cruise, the Air+ option makes this possible, with transportation costs covered by the passenger.
Viking Travel Protection Plan
Viking offers one of the most comprehensive travel protection plans in the industry. In addition the coverages provided by the plan as described below, it includes a “Cancel For Any Reason” Waiver provided by Viking. The Waiver becomes effective upon receipt of your full payment for the Travel Protection Plan within 14 days of booking. Outside of the 14-day window, the plan is still available for purchase up to the final payment date, but without the Waiver.
The Plan Includes:
- Protect your travel investment, your belongings, and most importantly you.
- Protects trip interruptions, travel and baggage delays and more.
- Coverage includes expenses related to COVID-19.
- Your total trip cost is covered, including the value of any vouchers applied.
- Accident and sickness medical expense coverage up to $100,000.
