It was a warm, bright evening when we checked in at Athlone, so we decided to explore. The waterfront was quite interesting, and we stumbled upon an Indian restaurant called Mother India. I do not believe we have ever had Indian food in Ireland, and quite honestly we were a bit skeptical, but we decided to try it out. Glad we did!
Mother India is a truly exceptional Indian restaurant, right by the waterside in Athlone. We shared a Lamb Tikka Jalfrezi and a Prawn Tikka Masala, both excellent with delicate spices, accompanied by quite possibly the best Onion Bhaji we have ever tasted and some wonderful Pashwari Naan.
It was a hike to Athlone, but we would consider going again just to revisit Mother India.
