The De Vere Venues Wokefield Park is centred around a beautiful country house in very nice rural grounds not far from Reading. We stayed while attending a conference recently and found it to be a study in compromises. We did not stay in the main building, although we did visit it and were impressed with the facilities. The larger hotel next door is a dated property. The rooms are reasonably priced, good sized and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and responsive, but the entire section is old and in need of a serious facelift. We found mold in the bathroom, and the carpet was worn. Even so, our stay was enjoyable and convenient for the meeting we needed to attend. But overall, we could give this hotel no more than a 7 out of 10.
