A Convenient Hotel on Airport Grounds

We flew through Iceland recently and overnighted at the Airport Hotel Smári.  It is conveniently located right on the grounds of the airport (Keflavik) serving Reykjavik.  This hotel is convenient if you if you need to stay in the Keflavik area or do not have time to visit Reykjavik proper, which is about 45 minutes away.
The staff were friendly enough, and there is a lift to the rooms, which are typically Scandinavian minimalist.  The breakfast was pretty minimalist, as well, but acceptable.  Our room was large enough to accommodate the luggage carts we pushed over from the airport. And perhaps that is the major flaw, is there is one, to this otherwise workable hotel – you do have to walk about 5 minutes over from the airport. They have no shuttle, and it is too close for a taxi, and given the variable Icelandic weather, it could be a cold and/or damp walk.
We arrived late and had some difficulty trying to find the closest door.  When you exit arrivals, take a left and go all the way to the ticket counter area.  Walk out that end of the terminal directly opposite the check-in desks, and you will find a little covered walkway.  Continue through the car park and cross the street, and you will find a sidewalk taking you directly toward the hotel.
